Tax Compliance
Tax compliance today involves far more than the timely submission of tax returns. With tax legislation constantly evolving, administrative obligations becoming increasingly complex, and tax authority expectations continuing to expand, it is essential for businesses to ensure that their tax processes are accurate, timely and fully compliant with the applicable legislation.
How can we help?
Tax compliance can affect virtually every aspect of a business. Establishing appropriate tax processes, accurately fulfilling tax filing obligations and keeping track of changes in the regulatory environment all contribute to keeping tax risks under control and ensuring predictable business operations.
Tax Compliance
We help businesses ensure that their tax processes comply with applicable regulations and that all required tax filings and data reporting obligations are completed accurately and on time.
Managing Tax Risks
We identify potential risks within tax processes and recommend practical solutions that not only support compliance but can also be effectively integrated into the business's day-to-day operations.
Tax Compliance in Day-to-Day Operations
A company's tax obligations extend beyond the submission of tax returns. The tax treatment of individual transactions, the establishment of appropriate record-keeping processes, the handling of tax authority enquiries and the continuous review of tax processes are all important elements of effective tax compliance.

We assist businesses in determining their VAT registration obligations, handling the related registration procedures and preparing the necessary documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions
We have collected the questions most frequently raised in relation to tax compliance, tax filing obligations and related tax processes.
Is Hungarian VAT registration required if a foreign company sells to Hungarian customers? +
Not every sale made to a Hungarian customer automatically gives rise to a Hungarian VAT registration obligation. Determining the obligation requires an assessment of the type of transaction, its place of supply, the VAT status of the customer and, where relevant, which party is liable to account for VAT.
Can eVAT replace the preparation of a VAT return? +
eVAT can significantly support the preparation of a VAT return, but the data made available by the tax authority does not necessarily cover all data relevant to the company's VAT obligations. Therefore, even when using eVAT, it is important to reconcile the company's own records with the data available from the tax authority.
If a company qualifies for Safe Harbour, does it have no further GloBE compliance obligations? +
Not necessarily. The application of Safe Harbour must be properly substantiated, and notification, tax advance and data reporting obligations related to the global minimum tax may still apply.
Which corporate groups are subject to the global minimum tax rules? +
The global minimum tax rules primarily apply to multinational enterprise groups and large domestic groups meeting the specified revenue threshold of EUR 750 million. Therefore, determining whether a company is in scope requires consideration not only of the Hungarian entity's standalone revenue, but also of the data and structure of the group as a whole.
How is a product classified for EPR purposes? +
For EPR purposes, the product and its components, as well as the nature of the sale and the company's role in the transaction, may all be relevant. Correct classification therefore often requires a detailed review of the product and transaction, particularly in the case of complex products or multiple types of packaging.
What tax opportunities can arise from properly identified R&D activities? +
The proper identification and documentation of R&D activities can provide a basis for assessing various tax opportunities. For example, subject to specific conditions, the corporate income tax rules may allow a reduction of the tax base in connection with R&D activities, while additional tax incentives may also be available in certain cases.
